RC Flight Training

We have eight AMA designated flight training instructors. Each student is given expert instruction that includes ground school, a primer in basic aerodynamics, and hands on flights the very first day! Like most all instructors, ours use the "Buddy Box" system for almost guaranteed success. What's a buddy box? A buddy box is simply a term used to describe the linking of two radio transmitters (controllers) together with a special electrical cord. This cord allows the instructor to give the student's transmitter full control of the aircraft by simply holding a spring loaded switch. If at any time the student becomes confused or disoriented, the instructor can instantly retake control of the aircraft by simply releasing this switch. This method allows the student to fly without constant fear of crashing, yet gives them valuable experience they will use in learning to fly on their own.  This system works, plain and simple. If you have ever thought about flying an RC aircraft, there should be nothing stopping you now! Our training season runs through the summer months and coincides with the time changes. All of our members are friendly and eager to help in any way that we can. This is a wonderful sport and hobby and we hope that you will find it as enjoyable as we do.
